The HR trends to watch in the coming year

Nearly 60 percent of HR managers stated that building essential skills for their employees will be a top priority in the year 2022. Drawing a curtain on the year 2021, HR managers are gearing up to align their organizational objectives to dynamic HR trends. Some of them are bound to add to sustainability, revenue growth, and a better employee experience. It is very important in creating a preferred workplace for the employees and business partners with a sustained workforce that cares for its clients especially in the staffing industry.

Let’s explore some of the significant HR trends that HR leaders need to prepare for.

HR Trend 1: Learning & Development

According to Gartner’s 2021 HR Budget and Staffing Survey, more than 37% of HR managers are planning to increase their current HR budget for the upcoming year for L&D Program. Companies were already focussing on upskilling their workforce as common practice for years, but this trend has supercharged due to remote working and hybrid work culture.

HR Trend 2: Employee Experience

The remote and hybrid working model has a domino effect, and thus, many HR operations have toppled over it. Processes like hiring, upskilling, and separation are going to be completely virtual in the upcoming year. Companies are focused on giving a great employee experience to their employees in the upcoming year. Thus, building a strong employee experience will continue to be a top priority for HR managers.

HR Trend 3: Data-Driven HR Processes

Organisations these days are witnessing a paradigm shift towards data-driven processes. It is high time that an HR manager adopts data-driven analytics into your business processes. HR leaders are relying on data analytics to understand the gaps in their workforce and skills. Smart data technologies like AI and ML would help companies to estimate future risks and plan for them in advance.

HR Trend 4: Automation of Tasks

On an average, the HR department in any organisation spends more than 40% of their time on repetitive, and tedious tasks. More than 50% of HR managers have cited that an organisation with no automated HR management solution cannot perform well during remote working. With automation of processes, HR leaders can focus better on their employees’ wellbeing especially during the turbulent times of a pandemic which is far from over, and upgrade business objectives in the testing times as these. Automation can be implemented on tasks like onboarding, leave management, payroll management, employee productivity, upskilling or reskilling program, and so on.

HR Trend 5: Digital Employee Governance

The HR trends are dynamic in nature and are transforming rapidly. Especially during the unprecedented times of last two waves of COVID-19 in the year 2020 and 2021 respectively. Organisations had to shift and rely on online tools that provides a 360° level of tracking in the current hybrid working culture, and the trend is only going to look up in the year 2022 due to constant innovation in technology. Virtual attendance, timesheets, and performance tracking tools will be trending areas to focus on for HR managers in the coming year.
